If your child has not received a formal label or diagnosis listed, but you would like a consultation nonetheless, please feel free to contact us with any questions.
Medical History/Consultation
CARE Clinics requires every parent to fill out a detailed questionnaire describing the medical history of the child. Please call our office for a copy.
After completing the Medical History questionnaire, we will schedule and conduct a formal consultation with the parents either in person or on the phone. This consultation is attended by our M.D., our clinic director and depending on the medical history, our N.D. (nutritionist) .
The consultation is an important starting point for deciding which tests will be required as well as for explaining what each test will show us.
Parents are encouraged to ask as many questions as they like in order to get a better understanding of the process, of what the child will be experiencing as well as what will be expected of the parents through the treatment process.
Comprehensive Diagnostic Lab Tests
After the initial course of action is determined in the consultation, a particular inventory of tests will be performed to establish both a base line of certain indicators, as well as to enable more refined diagnosis of the unique factors at work with each child.
From the child’s perspective, the test is as simple as a blood draw or the collection of a urine and stool sample, depending on the test. A staff of caring pediatric phlebotomists are on hand in our clinics to make the blood draw as routine and gentle as possible for the child.
From a scientific perspective, we utilize the most advanced testing mechanisms available to determine the combination and severity of a range of common indicators for children with your child’s particular condition, such as heavy metal toxicity, food and chemical sensitivities, presence of low-grade viral infections that may be compromising the immune system and other tests.
In addition, where appropriate, CARE Clinics performs an advanced genetic profile on the child, and parents, if they are interested. The child’s genetic profile will be analyzed by some of the most leading authorities in the field of genomic analysis and a review of the findings will be discussed in a follow-on consultation. The genetic profile is invaluable in helping to prioritize specific steps and interventions to include in the protocol. CARE Clinics is one of the first organizations to use gene profile data to perform more personalized medicine for its patients.
Review the Results
After all of the data has been collected from the prescribed tests, the parents will have a consultation with the CARE Clinics team.
Based on the findings, a treatment protocol will be developed for your child that might involve anything from a regiment of specific nutritional supplements and dietary recommendations to a multi-visit course in IV therapy and mineral supplementation at our clinic.
At this stage, if you have decided to have the genetic profile assembled, the appropriate experts will explain the most significant findings; what a certain polymorphism means to your health and quality of life as well as things that can be done to improve one’s health, quality of life and longevity based on the existence of particular polymorphisms.
Nutrigenomics
CARE Clinics has a relationship with Nutrigenomics to supply a complete inventory of all of the supplements and vitamins that a person may need. This service offers easy one-stop shopping and shipping for CARE Clinic patients, as well as easy re-order and billing.
Personalized Medicine
CARE Clinics uses advanced genetic profiling tests to identify the unique genetic science underpinning each patient’s health. Each person’s DNA is unique to them. The Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) make us who we are. Each aberration is a contributor to our overall health both in this moment as well as over the complete arc of our life. By understanding our profile with respect to the most important health issues; immune system, cardio, inflammation and detoxification, we can pinpoint nutritional, dietary and lifestyle factors that give a person the best chance at optimal health as well as help people avoid things that put them at most risk.
The genetic profile and genomic analysis will give a patient a look at the most relevant parts of the underlying blueprint to their body. The various organic test and other biomedical tests create a snapshot in time of where your body is given its particular blueprint. Through personalized intervention protocols, goals and milestones periodic snapshots of biomedical indicators - for example, a panel of heavy metal levels, homocysteines levels, food and chemical sensitivity levels (Igg, Ige, etc…), glutathione levels and many others – will show us the progress we are making in compensating for the genetic predispositions found in the gene profile.
It is important to note that the genetic profile will show genetic predisposition. It is not a black and white truth that someone with a certain predisposition will contract a certain disease or fall to a certain fatal condition or not. The genetic predisposition interacts with one’s environment – nutrition and lifestyle being two major components of one’s environment. By being proactive in the regulating of environmental factors, as well as looking in areas where a predisposition might point to (cardiovascular, immune dysfunctions, inflammation problems, etc…) one can dramatically reduce the risk that a predisposition will develop into something debilitating or life-threatening.
In the case of autism, for example, were genetic predisposition and environmental insults have already collided, an understanding of the genetic profile is critical to understanding the best course for reversing the condition to the maximum extent possible.
Treatment
Treatment protocols at CARE Clinics are personalized for each patient based on the data collected from the parents, the medical history and the results of the various tests.
Our protocols typically involve a specific sequence of supplements, nutrients and vitamins, oftentimes combined with periodic treatments that may be either capsule based or administered intravenously, depending on each particular patients needs, the doctor’s recommendation and the parents consent.
CARE Clinics has very child friendly staff and a child friendly environment so that any on-site experiences are as stress-free and enjoyable as possible.
Follow-up
One of the most important parts of the CARE Clinic methodology is the consistent follow up between the parents, the patient and the CARE Clinics staff. Follow ups are essential for measuring progress and updating the protocol based on where the patient is in relation to their milestones and goals.
Depending on the specific protocol for each patient, follow ups may be as frequent as monthly or as infrequent as every six months.
