CARE Cognitive/Verbal Behavior (CARE CVB)

The CARE CVB program provides diagnostic, assessment and intervention services for children showing the characteristics typical of autism spectrum disorders.  Information from the CARE CVB program assessments is utilized to develop a personalized cognitive and verbal behavior intervention plan tailored to remediate deficits in a child's ability to understand and participate in the world about them.  The C/VB program is based on research-based standards of practice for remediating the cognitive and verbal behavior challenges and deficits associated with autism spectrum disorders.

Treatment Approach:

The CARE CVB program is designed to teach children to become adaptive listeners, speakers, and thinkers.  This is accomplished through a blend of  Verbal Behavior and “relational framing” programming.  The Verbal Behavior component of our program teaches children to become effective listeners, speakers and social partners; while the relational framing component teaches children how events may be “the same as”, “different than,” “coming from,” “part of,” “opposite of”, and so on.

CARE CVB offers the following tests and assessments:

Assessment

  • Information from our assessments is used to establish goals, instructional strategies and procedures for personalizing each child's cognitive behavioral intervention program. These assessments provide valuable information that serve as a guide for the development of an effective individualized language, social skills and learning-to-learn curriculum. In addition, the C/VB program partners with CARE Clinics to provide medical work up and diagnostic services to support a child's physical wellbeing.
