SK was born June 25th,2003, the firstborn of non-identical triplets. She was 3 years old when she first came to CARE Clinic.

SK’s birth and post natal history was normal. She received all of the standard vaccinations beginning with the first hepatitis vaccine at birth. At 7 months she got her first cold and developed her first ear infection. She then would not breast feed, stopped vocalizing, and over the next several weeks developed poor muscle tone and eye contact. She also developed a musty odor and her stools became very foul.

On several physician visits, the parents were told that there was nothing wrong with her. At 15 months, at the parent’s insistence she was referred to a neurologist who obtained some tests and a brain MRI, which was reported as normal. The neurologist explained to the parents that it was probably the pertussis in the DPT vaccine. Genetic testing was also reported to the parents as normal.

At about 2 ½ years of age it was reported to the parents that she was probably autistic, at which time the parents began researching and started her on a casein- free/gluten-free diet, and DMG with some gains in her vocalization.

Despite her improvement SK lagged behind her brother and sister. She was distant and off to herself most of the time, and suffered with constipation and very foul stools. She also had several bouts of ear infections when her mother came upon CARE Clinic.

At CARE Clinic, SK was found to have multiple heavy metal toxicities, genetic polymorphisms, and detoxification impairments. She was started on bowel restoration therapies, nutrient support and IV chelation with remarkable improvement.
